The Kuwaiti Women's Associations Union, as the official representative of women's associations, signed a memorandum of understanding in January 2021 with the Arab Women Organization with the aim of coordinating and collaborating in the preparation of studies and research that support women's issues.
The Union announced that the memorandum of understanding was signed by Sheikha Fadia Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, Chairperson of the Kuwaiti Women's Associations Union, and Dr. Fadia Kewan, the General Director of the Arab Women Organization. This collaboration was established with the intent to enhance the capabilities of women's leadership within unions and women's associations, as well as to support their societal role.
The Union, in a statement following the signing of the agreement that took place virtually through Zoom, mentioned that the memorandum's clauses include addressing and researching important women's issues that support women's status and contribute to empowering them in various fields. It also involves providing studies, conducting training courses and workshops, and sharing experiences on women's issues, which further contributes to enhancing their competencies.
Sheikha Fadia expressed her pride in the Arab Women Organization's engagement with the proposals made by the Executive Committee of the Kuwaiti Women's Associations Union to support mutual cooperation between the two parties. The organization has recognized Kuwait's efforts in the field of humanitarian work and support for Arab women's issues. She also appreciated the humanitarian work carried out by the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, which had a profound impact on women's work. Additionally, she acknowledged the significant role played by Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah in enriching women's status through her contributions from the inception of the women's voluntary association and the Kuwaiti Women's Associations Union, with participation from various women's voluntary associations.
Sheikha Fadia expressed her optimism about future cooperation with the Arab Women Organization. She commended Dr. Fadia Kewan for her extensive experience and scientific and practical efforts in supporting women's activities, which contribute to the 2035 Sustainable Development Plan. She announced the continuity and succession of activities in the upcoming stage, especially after the successful collaboration in previous events. She expressed her belief in the positive and successful impact of cooperation and communication between the two parties. She also stated her hope that this agreement will be a promising start for Arab women with the grace of God.
