Kuwait Union of Women Associations participates in the advanced training Workshop on international protection mechanisms in the field of women's rights.

Sheikha Fadyah Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Sabah: Our goal is to enhance women's capabilities and skills, and to learn about best practices and exchange experiences.

A delegation from the Kuwaiti Union of Women's Associations participated in the advanced training workshop on international protection mechanisms in the field of women's rights, recently held by the Geneva Institute for Human Rights on the sidelines of the 88th session of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), and discussed Kuwait's report at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva.

The Chairperson of the Union, Sheikha Fadyah Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah, expressed her pride in the distinguished delegation's participation in the session, which included lectures, workshops, and attendance at the discussion of Kuwait's sixth periodic report on the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.

Sheikha Fadyah stated that the workshop aims to provide participants with scientific knowledge about the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and its Optional Protocol, as well as the workings of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, in addition to other international mechanisms concerned with protecting women's rights.

Sheikha Fadyah also mentioned that the course aims to enhance the capacities and skills of the participants in eliminating all forms of discrimination against women, allowing them to learn about best practices, exchange experiences and skills, and develop the participants' performance to undertake a training course in the near future to become accredited trainers equipped with all the necessary skills and experiences.

Sheikha Fadyah highlighted the prominent activities and efforts undertaken by the Union in the areas of supporting and protecting women, indicating that among these efforts was the regional conference on 'Arab Women, Security, and Peace: Challenges Facing Women in the Arab World,' organized by the Union last February with the participation of several high-level international figures and international and UN organizations concerned with women's affairs.

She noted that the Union began preparations for the conference from the early days of the aggression on Gaza to ensure that Kuwaiti women's voice is heard, as well as the principled and consistent political stance of Kuwait's leadership towards the Palestinian cause, turning from a local voice for Kuwaiti women to a regional voice with the participation of all Arab countries, in addition to the participation of the Regional Director of the United Nations Women - Arab States Regional Office, Dr. Susan Al-Zoghbi.

Sheikha Fadyah expressed her happiness and pride in highlighting this activity in the speech of Kuwait's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in the works of the 88th session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women, Ambassador Nasser Al-Hain, as well as its inclusion in Kuwait's report, confirming the importance of the role played by civil society. She expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for sponsoring and supporting this conference, as well as to the Arab Women Organization for its significant role in the success of the conference."
