International Participations

Continuing its supportive and interactive role with various regional and international organizations and entities, the Kuwaiti Women's Associations Union played an active part by participating in a meeting aimed at building the capacities of the subcommittee on gender equality to support national efforts in preparing voluntary national review reports on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda. This meeting was organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in partnership with the League of Arab States, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, and the Swedish Institute in Alexandria, Egypt.

The meeting addressed the following objectives:

• Empowering women, in cooperation with national statistical offices, to play a leadership role in monitoring and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals concerning gender-related issues.
• 2Preparing reference reports, identifying solutions and best practices, and holding consultations with civil society organizations and women's associations.

ESCWA, the League of Arab States, and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women made concerted efforts to enhance the capabilities of the subcommittee on gender equality, especially concerning women's priorities in the Sustainable Development Goals
